Type I is a way to make learning easier and more efficient for the teacher and it is very much run by the teacher rather than the student. Type I is still technology in the classroom, it is just very controlled.
Type II is much more hands on learning. Type II is a better way of teaching, rather than an easier way. The student has the most control over their learning in Type II.
Examples of Type I
1.) The first time we used computers in the classroom, all we were allowed to do was a typing program. We didn't even have any freedom in the typing program. We were only allowed to do "home row." This was most repetitive thing in the world. We would get so bored with it that we would just pound on the keys to see who could type the most letters per minute.
2.) Any kind of work on a computer where there is an instructor leading the class is considered type 1. Say there is a class project where everyone is doing the same thing. The teacher goes through it step by step until the project is done.
3.) Another type I would be as easy as using an overhead projector to show notes for students to copy.
Examples of Type II
1.) In yearbook class we were given a week, which was only 2 or 3 classes to learn how to use PageMaker. From there we were given a template and that's it. We were on our own from there. We taught ourselves how to make our page look good, and our yearbook is always the best in the state.
2.) Giving students the option of what kind of technology project they would like to do is a good type II example. There are so many different programs that you can use for a project. Giving the option makes the student in control.
3.) Using laptops/computers in the classroom to collect data and analyze it is a hands on way to learn. With a laptop it is easier to organize data and view it in many different ways.

Fires in the Bathroom chapter 2
In this chapter, there is an exercise in it to make sure you aren’t playing favorites. Students can tell when teachers like some students more than others. And it is very clear when a teacher doesn’t get along with a student. As a student, and you know your teacher doesn’t like you, it feels like no matter what you do, you can’t get past it. This will shut down the students will to learn.
When I used to work at a summer camp, I had my favorites. This is one thing that I am going to have to leave out of the classroom. It is definitely going to be hard, especially if I have baseball players in my class. But what I can do is just make sure I ask questions to everyone, and not just the same people every time. As it says in the book, students know when you are being biased towards students. It is even uncomfortable for the student that is getting the extra attention especially if it is brought up. No one wants to be singled out, even if it is because the teacher likes you.

Fires in the Bathroom chapter 1
One item that stood out to me that I really like was where it talks about when getting to know your students, let them get to know about you. If you give a welcoming survey asking your students about them, the teacher should fill it out as well. The book also gives a list a questions that students would like to know about the teacher.
I think that is a really good idea because it shows that you aren’t just a teacher, you are a person too. And it shows that you aren’t there just to tell everyone what to do, you are going to be involved too. This is the same as if you do an icebreaker. As the teacher, you should be involved in this too, because being involved you will be paying more attention to what everyone is saying. Students really do want to know a little bit about the teacher’s background. The example of a survey that is given in the book is an easy survey that doesn’t ask any questions that are too personal but it gives a nice welcoming to get to know everyone.

Number 14 really made me mad. Turns out you can't show a Disney movie without paying a 25 dollar fee because it would be used as entertainment. What I want to know is if you work at a summer camp, and you play a movie, are you supposed to pay the fee then as well? I just think that if you own the movie you should be able to show it in school for entertainment purpose or not. It isn't being used for entertainment for the people who are watching the kids, it's more of a break for them. Most of these at least make some sense, but this one is just too much. It is just another way for Disney to throw some more money in their pockets. It would be one thing if the school offered child care everyday and showed movies everyday, but this is just a one time thing. There should be some exceptions.

1.) Getting the first one wrong, I knew this wasn't going to be good. But I figured that burning different CD-ROM's would be illegal. But I guess as a backup it makes sense.
5.) This makes no sense to me. You can have a backup so that if you break it you have an extra, but if your students need extra copies to use in class you can't do that.
8.) Getting this one wrong at least makes sense. When reading it, I was thinking that he could have downloaded the movies illegally. It's fine if he paid for the downloading, but not if he used a program like limewire.
12.)I wouldn't think that it would be legal to tape a movie, and then digitize it to your computer. It is also bad that now dvd's make it impossible to burn, even if it is for educational purposes.
14.) This one is just terrible. It is messed up that you can't show even a Disney movie to kids without paying a fee to Disney. I think they have enough money.
15.) This one is kind of funny. You can use a whole movie, but don't you think about making a compelation of different movies or else!
16.) Turns out that it is now legal to scam the system. Who would have thought that it is ok to have a machine that beats the protection on DVD's.
17.) I just figured that there would be some sort of advertising law in this one that wouldn't allow you to add pictures on the web.
